Protect yourself and your loved ones - get your flu vaccine

Hospitals across the region are very busy.

Some patients are attending hospitals with illnesses like the flu. If you have flu symptoms, you should stay at home. You are likely able to manage your illness at home by:

  • resting
  • drinking plenty of fluids
  • taking pain relief tablets (such as paracetamol)

If you have a fever, stay away from school, work, young children, and the elderly. Most people get better without needing any treatment.

You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:

  • are aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2025)
  • have certain long-term health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • live in a care home
  • are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or get a carer’s allowance
  • live with someone who has a weakened immune system
